Introduction
Bias technically means a systematic inaccuracy gained in a research when the research findings deviate from the valid or true findings. These errors are mostly prevalent in the manner in which a research interview is conducted or during sampling (Burton-Jones, 2009). This paper, therefore, seeks to determine the biases that may result out of a qualitative and a quantitative research method.
Sources of Bias for both Quantitative and Qualitative Research
There are two main types of research methods, that is the quantitative and the qualitative. The quantitative research primarily aligns itself with the positivist model while the qualitative research model closely aligns itself with the naturalistic paradigm (Enkatesh, Brown, & Bala, 2013). In line with this, it is essential to note that biases may result in any phase of a research method including the process designing a study, data collection and analysis of the research data. The types of biases and the approaches used to manage such invalidities are detailed in the table below.
