An example of antibacterial therapy that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis is an aminoglycoside. These drugs prevent the synthesis of proteins in bacteria and treat severe infections due to gram-negative bacteria like Pseudomonas and E.coil. The medication is also effective against mycobacteria, some viruses, and Gram-positive bacteria (Bi et al., 2021). The spectrum of the medication includes Streptomycin, Neomycin, Kanamycin, Gentamicin, Gentamicin, Tobramycin, and Amikacin. Some of the signs or hints used to monitor aminoglycoside medication include watching out for signs of kidney damage associated with increased blood pressure, edema, or limited urine output. Another checking method includes watching out for potential hearing loss in patients; therefore, the physician examines if there are changes in the hearing ability of the client.
