Meningitis is an inflammation or swelling of the protective membranes located in the brain and spinal column. A bacterial or viral infection of the fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord usually causes the swelling. However, injuries, cancer, certain drugs, and other types of infections are also known to can cause meningitis thus, it is important and necessary for people to know about the specific cause of meningitis because the treatment differs depending on the cause.
BACTERIAL MENINGITIS- a type of Meningitis caused by bacteria can be deadly and requires immediate medical attention. Vaccines are available to help protect against some kinds of bacterial meningitis, but still, it leads to be the leading deadly form of meningitis in babies and children.
VIRAL MENINGITIS- Meningitis caused by viruses is also severe but often is less in intensity than bacterial meningitis. People with normal immune systems who get viral meningitis usually get better on their own without the use of external medicine. Their own bodies utilize its own capacity to heal There are FUNGAL MENINGITIS- this type of Meningitis is caused by fungi and is very rare, but people can get it by inhaling fungal spores from the environment. People with certain medical conditions, like diabetes, cancer, or HIV, are at higher risk of fungal meningitis due to the different way that their body might react or over-react.
PARASITIC MENINGITI- Various parasites that exist in our planet can cause meningitis or can affect the brain or nervous system in other ways. Overall, parasitic meningitis is much less common than viral and bacterial meningitis but it can be a little icky due to whatever type of nasty parasite that infects a person.
AMEBIC MENINGITIS- Primary amebic meningoencephalitis (PAM) is a rare and devastating infection of the brain caused by Naegleria fowleri. Naegleria fowleri is a free-living microscopic ameba that lives in warm water and soil and can infect a person through its contact and rare culmination.
