Review of the Bullish Farmer

Essay Instructions:

The purpose of a review is to discuss the film’s treatment of its topic, not the topic itself. A review is not a summary of the film, but rather an analysis and evaluation of the work, which will require you to recognize arguments and engage in critical thinking about the film in relation to course content. A reflection is a personal response to experiences, situations, events or new information (in this case the film) and provides the structure in which to make sense of your learning by linking course material to your own experience.
INSTRUCTIONS: Choose from ONE of the three following films (access through ’ANT 214 Films’ module): The Bullish farmer (79 min); Nourish: Short films (82 min); The Milky Way (93 min) and write a film review and reflection. Be sure your writing has a clear focus, is cohesively organized (use topic sentences), and maintains an academic tone (e.g. no contractions). Your main focus should be the film, but be sure to address how the experience shaped your understanding of class-related material by integrating the lectures and readings. You do not have to discuss every element - just identify the main themes that stood out to you within the context of your learning. DO NOT make unsupported statements - you must state the ‘because’ or explain ‘why’, and provide evidence and examples. The reflection portion of your paper should be personal and subjective, so use first person (‘I’) and personal pronouns to relate to the film.
