v  Learning how to detect an oral pathology and determine whether it is harmful or not is vital for a dental hygienist. By being able to detect you can save someone's life because it can be cancerous. This signature assignment and figuring out what type of oral lesion the patient has and if it is dangerous reflects onto the CLO 1 where it says Apply scientific knowledge related to principles of professional dental hygiene patient care.
v  Secondly, this signature assignment has also presented me with an opportunity to assess my competence in applying the knowledge gained in class to real-life situations. I was able to reflect on potential challenges in detecting the oral pathology procedure. Besides, I also reflected on the oral mucosal diseases, such as burning mouth syndrome and oral lichen planus that can be seen through the oral biopsy approach.

v  My success in this project was able to have all the items needed. I was also able to put all the information about my patient together and detect that lesion in the first place. One trouble I had was trying to find out if that lesion is dangerous. My main intention was to determine whether it is cancerous because oral cancer is difficult to treat and is manifested through such signs. I addressed the challenge by conducting further research on the signs and symptoms of cancerous lesions. My yielded melanoma signs suggested large brownish spots with darker speckles as one of the leading signs of the condition. The study also noted that a painful le...
