Background of Study
In the first article titled "Nurses' view of implementation evidence‐based fall prevention interventions: A qualitative study," Oncu & Intepeler (2022) aim to evaluate the nurses' views on the implementation of evidence-based fall prevention strategies. The research identifies patient falls as a major problem that has adverse effects on patients, hence the need to develop interventions to address it. The article is critical to nursing because it provides interventions needed to address the problem. It demonstrates that healthcare professionals should introduce fall prevention interventions through training methods. The study does not have a specific study question.
In the second article, Heng and others (2020) in "Hospital falls prevention with patient education: a scoping review" demonstrate that hospital falls remain a frequent problem all over the world. The study shows how patient falls can be prevented in healthcare facilities using an educational intervention. The objective is to identify gaps in current research through summarizing and evaluating different literature. The broad research question is "What are the findings of the current literature regarding patient falls prevention education in hospitals?"

The PICOT question is: Among patients in acute care settings (P), would the implementation of patient and nurse education (I) be more effective compared to normal fall prevention strategies (C) in minimizing cases of falls (O) within three months after the implementation of the intervention (T). Oncu & Intepeler (2022) emphasizes nursing education as the intervention to reduce patient falls. The article demonstrates that educating nurses is needed to ensure that patients can put measures to prevent falls. Similarly, Heng et al. (2020) support the PICOT question by demonstrating patient education can be used as an intervention to patient falls. Both articles indicate that educating both patients and nurses will lead to a reduction in inpatient falls. The articles show that educational interventions can work in the acute care setting. Healthcare facilities can implement the intervention, and it will work effectively in preventing patient falls within three months.
Method of Study
Oncu & Intepeler (2022) use a qualitative descriptive design for their research. The researchers conducted semi-structured, in-depth, and face-to-face interviews. The study was guided by the Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research (COREQ). In nursing research, trustworthiness is critical. The researchers ensured credibility, dependability, conformability, and transferability in this article. The investigator did a training program for implementing fall prevention interventions. Nurses who participated in the training sessions learned about evidence-based practices and patient falls and prevention strategies. The training was repeated three times to ensure that many nurses participated.
