New Practice Approaches
Five main approaches guide nursing: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. However, the nursing sector is evolving, and therefore, healthcare providers are demanded to ensure care is adaptive to patients’ needs. In this vein, two new approaches to care are essential: culturally sensitive care and utilization of technology. Culturally sensitive care is grounded on giving patients autonomy to decide how care should be delivered based on their values and spiritual beliefs. On the contrary, technology is an essential approach to nursing because it aims to streamline care processes. An excellent example of technology use is an emphasis on electronic health records and telemedicine innovation, a new perspective that has revolutionized care in this covid-19 pandemic era by linking patients and physicians in two distinct geographical locations. Noteworthy, new nursing approaches include searching for new solutions to issues in specific areas of nursing. This aspect can be advanced by focusing on evidence-based research. In this case, I developed three topics to find solutions: STIs-syphilis, covid-19 vaccines, and diabetes type 2.
Inter-professional Collaboration
Throughout the professional capstone and practicum course, inter-professional collaboration has been maintained. This aspect has been sustained from a great conversation with my preceptor, my workmates in the healthcare office where I was stationed, and my lecturer. I was also privileged to attend a SPICY meeting that had a collection of different state health employees drawn from diverse backgrounds that met to chart new health needs, areas of concern, and upcoming trends. As such, I was able to associate with high-caliber nurses who are conversant with several aspects of healthcare matters. Most importantly, the engagement with different stakeholders informed me on best nursing decisions and how issues are confronted. Besides, the inter-professional collaboration helped me understand appropriate ways of communicating in a diversified setting that reflect the typical nursing care scenario.
Health Care Delivery and Clinical Systems
Healthcare delivery and clinical systems emphasize quality and safety within health services. This element emphasizes disease management, diagnosis, and treatment options for different diseases in their basic form. A patient’s place in life determines different healthcare deliveries to be used. An appropriate health care delivery can be gained through sustained discussion with various stakeholders, including physicians, nurses, and patients (Piña et al., 2015). Each group will offer a perspective that will guide how clinical care should be delivered. Patient input is important because understanding their needs and values, especially from a religious perspective, will define the approach to be used. For instance, a patient with a strong faith in religion is likely to abscond from taking drugs.
