The VARK Questionnaire is a useful instrument used to assess a person's learning style and give that person vital advice for using suitable learning techniques. This may be accomplished by providing the individual with the questionnaire. Aural, visual, kinesthetic, read-and-write, and multimodal styles can all be distinguished from one another (The VARK questionnaire, 2022). Understanding the preferred learning style is important to maximize and effectively understand different concepts and information.
After completing the questionnaire, the feedback suggests multimodal learning is my preferred learning style. The aural and read-and-write methods play a more significant role than visual and kinesthetic in my approaches to learning. The multimodal learning style involves consuming information in various formats. According to Kamal et al. (2021), for successful comprehension and evaluation by students with this learning style, the content should include various components, such as written and visual arts (Kamal et al. 2021). In this scenario, having a predisposition for multimodal learning involves putting more of an emphasis on content that can be read, is delivered in the form of lectures, and can also be discussed with other people. However, the multimodal learning style also indicates that when written and visual components and models assist auditory materials, the information may be learnt more successfully (Rapaport & Cojocaru, 2019). This is because written and visual elements and models support more than one way of information processing.
People with a multimodal learning style may have several learning strategies that they find most compelling. Reading articles and textbooks that provide a variety of visuals of various kinds is the first method. The second method involves using PowerPoint presentations containing textual information and images supported by audio recordings. Taking notes and making mind maps during the lecture is another method that is recommended since it allows the student to record the information and depict it in the most suitable format (Rapaport & Cojocaru, 2019). Even if there are not many recognized learning techniques, they are helpful for a person who prefers multimodal learning and wants to deal with several forms of the offered information simultaneously.
