Practicum Experience Student’s Name Institutional Affiliation Application of Theory and Knowledge Clinical placement is a grand opportunity for one to apply knowledge learned in class and to develop skills. It is a great feeling when one gets to diagnosis and to treat a patient by use of clinical guidelines as well as preceptor’s recommendations. Confidence is only built when you realise that you are finally prescribing the correct antibiotics or identifying the right symptoms. During a clinical experience, one can reinforce the principles acquired in class. It is during this time that I was able to perceive and think about each patient in a more observant eye (Moodley, 2016). Besides, the first-hand understanding of pharmacology and various units in the hospital helped to advise patients in better and new ways. Besides, working with competent diagnosticians helped to reinforce the skills and theory acquired in class. Besides, I was encouraged to share the topics learned in class to assist look for patients with a concern that married with the theme. Thus, making it an opportunity to learn and practice the skills simultaneously. During the practice, the best practices in learning and teaching were validated and looked practical (Moodley, 2016). My understanding of patient care was strengthened. Besides, the knowledge gathered in class helped to improve the patients care in all the units that I visited during my practicum experience in a hospital Things Learned During The Practicum And How To Apply Them In Public Health Career The requirements of my course were created in such a way it helped us as students to acquire and at the same time practice the skills that we shall require in our future jobs. Therefore, each student had a different practicum that was designed to meet their career goals (Mora & Schewiss, 2018). During my practicum experience, I learned some things that helped me gain experience in public health practice. For instance networking. I worked with some professionals, experts and other students. Each of the relationship and connection made was important for me in the future since it helped me enhance my professional network. It is as a result of these networks that one finds a job, can obtain a new reference or can consult in case one needs to solve any problem at work. Secondly, I was able to gain new knowledge since I could apply the knowledge at work. The skills and knowledge obtained will be a great tool when it comes to the actual execution of real work. A practicum will also be an opportunity to boost my resume, and this will help me stand out from the crowd since this will show the employer that I have been equipped for the position already.
