Introduction
Improving the well-being of people with mental illnesses is one of the priorities to improve the patient outcomes, yet the financing of mental health care is less robust than physical health care. Changes in the markets and greater consumer choices are some of the factors that affect funding to provide proper mental health care yet the quality of coverage remains poor when compared to that of physical health care. Where possible plans for the improvement of mental health care need to integrate programs and interventions that meet the needs of families. Increased funding is associated with greater consumer choice since there is commitment to meet the patient needs. There is a need for more resources in mental health are and this can in the detection and early management of conditions such as psychosis, in order to improve the prognosis of the people and improve the quality of life.
Research questions
Bobo et al., 2014 sought to determine what how losing health insurance coverage among women screened for postpartum depression (PPD) in primary care settings affected access to mental health care. Brown et al., 2017 focused on what were the cost savings in mental health care in when utilizing the combinatorial pharmacogenomic (CPGx) approach for patients in the primary care setting. In the study by Patel et al., 2017, the researchers looked into the likelihood that patents diagnosed with psychosis would be willing to participate in research, and this would inform the researchers about the most appropriate intervention. On the other hand Willi et al., 2017, focused on the effects of cocaine and substance-induced psychosis on the white manner compared to individuals who did not experience psychosis.
