Introduction
Anemia is a medical condition which occurs when an individual has insufficient hemoglobin or healthy red blood cells inside their blood. This essay is going to discuss and relate the different elements of iron deficiency and post-hemorrhagic anemia in detail. Anemia is a prevalent condition especially in women, and it leads towards the feeling of weakness and tiredness.

Post-Hemorrhagic Anemia
This condition is also termed as blood loss anemia, and it occurs when an individual loses a significant volume of circulating haemoglobin (Hb). This condition is usually linked with an event or a serious injury that result in a significant blood loss (Le, 2016). It can also happen because of an invasive surgical process.
Pathophysiological Mechanisms of Iron Deficiency
The deficiency of iron occurs in multiple stages. In the very first stage, the requirement of iron exceeds its intake; this results in depletion of already stored iron inside bone marrow (Mayoclinic, 2019). In this way, the stored iron started to decrease. During the first stage, the level of serum iron and haemoglobin is normal; however, the ferritin level decreases to less than 20ng/ml (Mayoclinic, 2019). At the next stage, erythropoiesis is damaged; this impairs the genesis of red blood cells. Although the level of transferring is elevated, serum iron level reduces. Therefore, the saturation of transferring decreases. Erythropoiesis is damaged when the level of serum iron reached less than 50 μg/dL and transferrin saturation to less than 16% (Mayoclinic, 2019). At the third stage, anemia develops because of iron deficiency which started to affect tissues that result in the development of symptoms.
Similarities/Dissimilarities between Iron Deficiency and Post-Hemorrhagic Anemia
The significant difference between iron-deficiency anemia and posthemorrhagic anemic is that in posthemorrhagic anemia, the person quickly loses their blood due to some sudden injury or invasive procedure.
