Outbreak investigation refers to the process of identifying the source of an infectious disease to establish control and implement actions that will prevent future recurrences of the same. The steps in investigating a COVID-19 outbreak are case identification and prioritization, rapid notification of results or diagnosis, case interview, monitoring and isolation of infected individuals, eliciting contacts, case follow-up and medical monitoring, additional case follow-up, and finally, discontinuation of self-isolation (CDC, 2020).

The COVID-19 outbreak started in November 2019 in Wuhan, Hubei, China. There have been 104,111,747 reported coronavirus cases in the US (Worldometer, 2021). There are 242,000 cases of COVID-19 specific to my selected community for the Final Project.
