A description of the lesson plan feedback from your preceptor.
Once I had finished writing my lesson plan, I received feedback from my preceptor and I had to revise my lesson plan to make it standard and adhere to the rules of writing lesson plans. Basically, the feedback had both positive and negative remarks, but I took everything positive because I wanted to enrich myself with the skill of preparing lesson plans. The positive remarks included the parts where I had done well enough such that there was no need for correcting. The negative remarks included the areas I had done poorly and failed to observe the requirements.
The preceptor remarked that I had done well on defining the student characteristics. It was easy to tell the students I was targeting for my lesson plan. All the necessary information was captured. However, the aim of the lesson was not clear initially. The preceptor guided me on how to refine it and meet the minimum requirements. I had omitted crucial information such as what the lesson would contain. This is an important element of the section because it shows how the overall aim of the lesson will be achieved. I revised this and the final lesson plan was standard and up to the expected level.
I had also not met the minimum requirements for defining the learning objectives. This is a crucial element because it shows the skills that the students should have achieved at the end of the lesson. It shows the skills that the teacher wishes to pass on to the learners by the end of the lesson. These objectives should be precise and specific to the lesson. However, I stated broad objectives and seemed to have captured the entire course rather than the lesson. The preceptor guided me on how to narrow down my learning objectives to that specific lesson.
The feedback showed that I had done well in several sections; assumed prior knowledge, resources, how learning will be identified, and identifying the needs of the learners. I had been precise in defining these sections, and the preceptor indicated that I was on the right track towards becoming an effective teacher if I choose that as my profession.
