This EBP project focuses on increasing the number of nurses in hemodialysis centers to provide inpatient care. It recognizes that work-related burdens play a vital role in the quality of care (Foli et al., 2021). In this context, the EBP project targets to improve healthcare delivery by eliminating adverse outcomes such as nursing burnout, medication errors, and the length of hospitalization. Evaluating the effectiveness of such a project is critical because it informs the success and identifies areas of improvement. However, one must collect appropriate independent and dependent variables data to achieve this goal.
The PICOT question outlines all the components of the study. Based on these elements, the independent variable will be the increased number of nurses, while the dependent variable will comprise health outcomes like medical errors and length of hospitalization. Collecting information about the independent variable will be necessary for demonstrating that the department has sufficient healthcare providers to ensure all patients receive satisfactory healthcare services (Griffiths et al., 2020).
