A good PICO question must be supported by research. There are several databases available online that offer numerous journal articles. However, the PICO question formulated used PubMed. It is a database that primarily provides information and evidence-based research for the PICO question. It currently contains over 34 million texts about sciences and biomedical literature. In addition to its numerous pieces of literature, the database is free and open to the public. Here is the link for PubMed’s website: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/ (PubMed, n.d.). Therefore, the PICO question formulated has heavily depended on PubMed.
The PICO question should center on psychiatric care. Hence, PubMed is the best database to search for information because it contains several journal articles about psychiatric care. PubMed, in particular, contains literature on the psychiatric care and medical needs of Black Women. Thus, the PICO question was formulated with ample evidence using reliable and credible literature from the database related to the topic.
Inclusion Criteria and Exclusion Criteria
Research must determine the inclusion and exclusion criteria. They are critical in identifying the target participant for the research to achieve the desired results. In addition, identifying the inclusion and exclusion criteria makes research more feasible because studies relevant to future research have been identified (Connelly, 2020; Hornberger & Rangu, 2020; Keung et al., 2020). Hence, the PICO Question, "For Black people with mental health problems (P), how does receiving psychiatric care (I) versus not receiving psychiatric care (C) affect their mortality rate (O)?" has an inclusion and exclusion criteria as well. By identifying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, the PICO question is presumed feasible and thriving in the future. The inclusion and exclusion criteria are discussed in the following sections of the paper.
Inclusion Criteria
Gender
The PICO question includes women. Gender has always played an essential role in society. It is sometimes used to determine one’s personality, capabilities, and weaknesses. Even though there are several movements for gender equality, it is still difficult to eliminate the stereotypes that have been assigned to women. Women are perceived to be frailer and more emotional than men. They are also perceived as merely a companion for men. Finally, they are perceived as inferior to men. Thus, gender indeed plays a significant role in society. The Black Women were chosen as subjects for this study because of the difficulties and unfortunate events of being a woman.
Race
The PICO question focuses on Blacks. They are the most aggrieved group of all races in the world. They have faced oppression, violence, cruelty, and other adversities. As a result of their unfortunate life experiences caused by racism, they have serious mental health problems (Williams, 2018). Aside from the illnesses, their group does not receive the necessary psychiatric care....
