Assessment Description
Review your problem or issue and the study materials to formulate a PICOT (Patient, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome and Time) question for your capstone project change proposal. A PICOT question starts with a designated patient population in a particular clinical area and identifies clinical problems or issues that arise from clinical care. The intervention used to address the problem must be a nursing practice intervention. Include a comparison of the nursing intervention to a patient population not currently receiving the nursing intervention, and specify the timeframe needed to implement the change process. Formulate a PICOT question using the PICOT format (provided in the assigned readings) that addresses the clinical nursing problem.
The PICOT question will provide a framework for your capstone project change proposal.
In a paper of 500-750 words, clearly identify the clinical problem and how it can result in a positive patient outcome.
Step 1: Create PICOT question; A PICOT question is presented and provides a clear framework for the capstone project change proposal. Your PICOT question should clearly outline all of these elements: patient, intervention, comparison, outcome and time.
Step 2: PICOT Problem: Identify the PICOT problem, what clinical problems or issues may arise from clinical care? The PICOT problem as it relates to evidence-based solution, nursing intervention, patent care, health care agency, and nursing practice is thoroughly described.

Hypertension Does Not Have Specific Symptoms
Hypertension or high blood pressure is a common health concern among older adults. It is a condition with long-term pressure against the artery walls (Oliveros et al., 2020). The extreme force may cause other secondary effects such as heart problems. Hypertension is any blood pressure that exceeds 140/90. However, some instances may be extreme at a pressure above 180/20 (Anker et al., 2018). Hypertension does not have specific symptoms; however, the common include ear buzzing, vision changes, irregularity in the heart rhythms, and morning headaches. The paper addresses hypertension in older adults and its management.
PICOT Question
Among the older adults (Population), how effective is managing stress (Intervention) compared to monitoring blood pressure (Comparison) in reducing hypertension (Outcome) within six months (T)?
PICOT Problem
Hypertension in older adults comprises many clinical issues from clinical care. The major issue is a heart attack or stroke. Hypertension can easily lead to stroke or heart attack due to the thickening and hardening of the arteries (Oliveros et al., 2020). Older adults are individuals who are above 60 years and thus have weak body organs such as the cardiovascular system. Hypertension is a critical health problem since it causes the deaths of 7.6 million individuals annually, with a higher percentage of the deaths from older adults (World Health Organization, 2022). It leads to 13.5% of the global deaths, with 47% heart disease and 54% stroke. Therefore, hypertension is a critical clinical issue with many complexities in clinical care.
Evidence-based Solution
Education on stress management is a significant solution to hypertension in older adults. The major cause of hypertension among older adults is stress. Besides, 80% of the problem occurs in middle and low-income countries (Oliveros et al., 2020). Stress management is an effective solution to the issue since it improves the mental health of older adults within a short period. The intervention is more effective than monitoring the blood pressure, which may take longer than six months. Therefore, the effective solution to hypertension is stress management.
