Over the years, developments in healthcare have become more dependent on technology, but for the purposes of automation and being independent on human intervention. In the past, people are very much dependent on other people when they need to get treatments or medical care, but with the advent of technology and the development of policies and innovation that reengineered healthcare and the system, healthcare has become more inclusive and accessible.
For example, the expansion of Medicaid to include more older adults from different age groups and include preventive health care has enabled many more adults to take charge of their own preventive care, rather than relying on their children or caretakers to take them to necessary procedures and such. After Medicaid expanded its coverage as such, there was an increase in the use of preventive care among older adults, which is a good thing because they are more in control (Reynolds & Fisher, 2020).
