Introduction
In the health and medicine field, it is crucial to adopt quality improvement initiatives. These are meant to ensure that the involved employees are motivated such that they are able to offer higher quality service beyond the usual or the expected. In the involved area, the quality improvement initiative would entail offering the healthcare providers devices of enabling them to collect, store and retrieve the patients' records with more ease. The traditional method of keeping the patient's information has been manual whereby the details are written in the physical files, (Maiden, D'souza, Jones et al, 2013). Such method is not motivating and does not work in a bid to enhance quality of the service provided by the health workers.
Purpose of the program
The purpose of this program would be to ensure that healthcare providers have more motivating method of keeping the details of the patients. Every healthcare provider in the organization would be provided with an electrical device for making the work of collecting patients' details, keeping them and retrieving them easier. There would be need for devices such as iPad and laptops.
For the nurses, iPad would go a long way in helping them keep the details of patients as they receive them. There is need to ensure that the devices are centrally connected such that retrieving information from one device to the other is possible using varied devices, (Maiden, D'souza, Jones et al, 2013). That would mean that once details have been entered in to the system, they are accessible to any of the health worker.
Such an initiative would make work very easy for the health care providers. In turn, they would feel motivated and therefore work towards providing higher quality service. In order to ensure that an initiative reaches everyone, it is crucial that every employee in the organization gets their own device, (Lyles, Schillinger& Sarkar, 2015). Depending with the level of the healthcare providers, it would be viable to ensure reception of varied devices. For instance, the nurses would receive iPads which the clinical officers as well as the other administrative officers, would get laptops.
Many quality improvement initiatives have failed due to the wrong tendencies of being discriminative in the project ventures. For instance, at times, the lower level employees would be disregarded, and in an initiative such as this one, they would not be considered. Hence, such devices would be given to the top level managers who happen to have very little contact with patients. Hence, very little or no impact in improvement of the quality of the service offered to patients despite incurring huge cost.
When the patients see that the healthcare providers are advanced in terms of technology use, they get to be more confident with them, (Lyles, Schillinger& Sarkar, 2015). They may end up being more open to them and share with them their details that are capable of enabling them to offer better care. It is also beneficial to the patients in the sense that their details will not be subject to loss as before and therefore, they will not be subjected to repletion of retrieval of their details. As such, they wi...
