Introduction
The healthcare systems in America are facing immense challenges that need to be addressed in good time before they get overboard. This is simply because, in the future, these challenges are more likely to hinder the provision of quality healthcare to the society. To appropriately address these factors, there are a number of approaches that if implemented can spur change in the health sector (Chassin, & Loeb, 2013). However, it is empirical to suggest that addressing these issues in one sitting may prove somehow exigent.
It is through this paper that I seek to address some of the grave issues that are directly affecting and challenging healthcare institutions and the leaders who run the facilities. In this paper, I will also focus my attention on the impact of these issues on a department and exposit how an improved communication and collaboration would profoundly affect the status of each unit.
Issues Faced by Our Organization
Each and every single health facility to some extent experience some challenging issues that directly hamper their functions aimed at delivering quality health care services to the society. It is from these proponents that our institution has noted a series of challenges that have affected our services and the manner in which they are dispensed in the community (Lubbe, & Roets, 2014). The two primary challenges that we have witnessed include; poor job satisfaction and nurse shortages, a factor that has resulted in low turnover rates.
Nursing shortages in a controversial issues that have affected the entire heath facility and we are not an exception. It is essential to note that these shortages have doubled over the last few years (Lubbe, & Roets, 2014). In delivering care to patients hospitalized in an institution, it is of essence to determine that a well-coordinated strategy is employed that incorporates all the healthcare practitioners. This, therefore, requires the corporation of Allied Health Providers, Nurses, and Physicians including other key professionals who are required to provide individualized healthcare services.
It is, therefore, essential to note that the insufficient supply of nurses within our department has immensely challenged and handicapped our functions. Due to these shortages, we have experienced some other challenges such as an increase in nurse demands, decreased the supply of registered nurses, low wages within the health fraternity and the demographical changes.
In addition to this, poor job satisfaction is another challenge that stems out from the shortages in nurses and remains a challenge to our department as well. As a result of Unsatisfaction among the nurses, several problems have developed that have affected the whole department such as the lack of commitments, inadequate delivery and dispensation of health care services, staff absenteeism and presenteeism within the institution (May, Bazzoll, Gerland, 2010).
