Four Types of Stroke
One type of stroke is Ischemic stroke. This happens when there is some form of obstruction to a vessel that supplies blood to the brain. According to the American Stroke Association, this is the most common form of stroke and accounts for more than 85% of all the total cases. Ischemic stroke is often brought about by fatty deposits in the lining of blood vessels. These fatty deposits have been shown to cause two types of obstruction. These are the cerebral thrombosis and the cerebral embolism. The second type of stroke is hemorrhagic stroke. As the American Stroke Association notes, this form of stroke accounts for about 13% of the total cases. A hemorrhagic stroke happens when an exhausted blood vessel ruptures and bleeds in the region surrounding the brain. The accumulation of blood that results from the break leads to a compression of the surrounding brain tissue.
The third type of stroke is the Transient Ischemic Attack. This type results when there is some temporary blockage of blood flow to the brain. The affected person may experience symptoms of dizziness and loss of consciousness. This type is often temporary and does not lead to permanent damage (Katan & Luft, 2018). Consequently, most people ignore the signs and symptoms. It is important to note that this type should not be overlooked since it could be a sign that a full-blown stroke is on its way. The fourth type of stroke is the cryptogenic stroke. It is also known as stroke of the unknown cause. There are instances where an individual may experience a stroke, and the cause cannot be determined through various tests and examinations by a physician. This type of stroke is referred to as a cryptogenic stroke.
Difference Between Primary and Secondary Parkinson Disease
It is important to know what dopamine is to understand the core difference between primary and secondary Parkinson's disease. Dopamine is an important neurotransmitter. It is a brain chemical that relays information between cells and is important in the optimal regulation of emotional response and learning. In Parkinson's disease, a deficiency of this neurotransmitter is observed. The following are the symptoms that are used in the diagnosis of primary Parkinson's disease. A person has Parkinson’s disease when two or more of the symptoms below are found.
The first symptom is shaking and tremors. The symptom is often referred to as resting tremor (Raza & Anjum, 2019). The affected person experiences tremors and shaking while they are at rest. When they start moving, however, these tremors stop. The second symptom is bradykinesia. The patient experiences significantly slowed movement of their body organs such as limbs and face. His walking may also be slowed. The third symptom is rigidity. For this symptom, the affected person experiences some stiffness in the arms or legs. On the other hand, secondary Parkinson's disease refers to a unique condition where a person may experience some of the symptoms mentioned above (symptoms for primary Parkinson's disease) in addition to other symptoms.
