The disease and cause of the disease
I chose diabetes. Basically, diabetes occurs when blood glucose or sugar is too high. Diabetes is divided into type 1 and type 2 but their causes vary considerably. Type 1 diabetes is caused by the immune system destroying the cells in the pancreas that make insulin. This results into diabetes by leaving the body without sufficient insulin to operate as expected. This phenomenon is called autoimmune reaction because the body is attacking its own organs. There is no specific cause for this attack but bacterial infection and chemical toxins within the food have been identified as potential triggers. On the other hand, the causes of type 2 diabetes are multi-factorial; more than one cause is involved. However, the most overwhelming factor is family history, which is responsible for 62% of all type 2 diabetes in the United States (Cederberg, 2015). Other causes include obesity, increasing age, unhealthy diet and sedentary lifestyle.
Symptoms of diabetes
Diabetes symptoms differ with regard to the amount of blood sugar elevated. People suffering from type 2 diabetes do not display any signs during the early stage. However, symptoms of type 1 diabetes tend to show up early and are severe. Neverth...
