World Health Organization(WHO) (2022) indicates that the demand for nurses and other healthcare professionals will continue to rise; for instance, WHO predicts that by 2030, an extra 9 million nurses and midwives will be needed. To unlock the recent paradigm-shift in the healthcare industry, Wakefield et al.  (2021) delve into how healthcare workers strive to reduce health disparities and foster equity while applying technology, controlling costs, and providing patient and family-centered care into the future. This essay reviews the work of Wakefield et al. (2021), examining how this study's findings have impacted the nursing curriculum, workforce preparation, use of medical technology, and the overall progress of the nursing profession.
