The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is a federal agency under the Department of Health and Human Science.
Its relevance is gained by the need to protect the public against drugs, food, medicines, and veterinary products that may be considered harmful.
FDA develops regulations as guided by laws encapsulated in the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act FD&C Act or other laws under which FDA operates.
FDA is tasked with protecting public health by ensuring the safety, efficacy, and security of medicines, drugs, food, cosmetics, and other products. In addition, the FDA regulates the manufacturing, processing, marketing, and distribution of tobacco-related products to protect public health.
The FDA also helps speed up innovations in producing human and animal products that are considered more effective, safer, and more affordable.
The FDA regulates and monitors the sale of medical device products by checking their safety and efficiency standards. In addition, the evidence must be presented to FDA for approval regarding the effectiveness of any product or medical device.
The FDA does not have the authority to regulate a nurse's practice. FDA does not have any direct influence on nurse practice
