Dealing with Children Disruptive Disorders
Childhood disruptive disorders such as Defiant Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Conduct Disorder, and Hypersensitivity can sometimes be challenging to manage, especially for the children themselves or even the family. As a PHMP, we have several interventions that we can use to treat the disorders (Gathright & Tyler, 2012). Some of the treatment methods are multifaceted as a disorder might be linked to other comorbidities, which should also be treated for a full recovery. We can use the interventions to approach the disease, including family support, pharmacotherapy, and psychosocial interventions.
For family support interventions, we will stress the overall benefits of stress reduction in any given home, parental warmth during child-parent interaction, and harsh discipline to the child. Additionally, we will encourage the parents to explain the importance of curfews, and parents should regularly check their mental health (Gathright & Tyler, 2012). Lastly, family intervention incorporates support organizations that families can visit.
