• What challenges did you encounter in completing this assignment?

                     I faced many challenges when completing this periodontal disease signature assignment.  One being to take into a lot the factors to give a prognosis for each tooth of the patients mouth. I had to take into consideration the etiologyical factors, furcation,mobility and so on in order to determine the prognosis. I also faced challeneges with finding a periodontal patient because I haven’t seen so many patients yet and it was kind of difficult to find one.

• How did you solve these challenges?

-I solved the challenge of finding the write prognosis for each tooth by reviewing all the documents, slides and look over the book information to make sure I gave the write prognosis. The prognosis consists of

For my other challenge well since it was a partner asssginemnt I was able to get it from my partner and we were able to work on that patient together.

• What were the successes you had in completing this assignment?

-Success of completing this assignment was now that now I am able to prognosis each tooth well. I can take all the signs of periodontal disease to make sure it is periodontal disease and so on.

• Describe the learning processes throughout the course, what it felt like as you progressed and mastered certain skills (developing a treatment plan, analyzing all clinical assessments to develop the diagnosis and prognosis, using technology to enhance the assessment process, considering  risk factors the patient may have that effect the patient’s periodontium, etc.)

-this course requires a lot of studying time and memorization. I had to go over the material multiple of times to make sure I retained the information correctly. Analyzing all clinical assessments were hard for me to do and to make  develop a diagnosis and prognosis from that information. The use of the periodontal technology was an easier part of this class to learn because it was hands on.

• What skills have you obtained from this signature assignment and how will you apply those skills to private practice?

-I obtained many skills of diagnosisng and prognosis periodontal dental disease that will help me when I see patients in the clinic

-I need to learn more about prognodid of periodontsl disease in order to be able to help my patients better.

• What has changed in your assumptions and understandings?

-What has changed is how to make a necessary dental hygiene care plan from the factors that we learned in perio class. Before this class I did not have a lot of knowledge about perio and this class helped to clarify a lot of thing for diagnosing dental .

Instructions:

Choose a patient that has some form of Periodontitis - Choose “Periodontal Diseases” for your assessment (not oral pathology or caries

  assessment for this class)

- Complete a Philips CARE

- Summarize observations, assessments, diagnosis and the treatment plan made for  

  the selected patient.
