The merging of internet technology with medicine has been loosely translated as ‘internet medicine’, with some referring to it as e-health. The term e-health has been used in various contexts, thus making it hard to provide a definitive definition. However, e-health can be broadly defined as an intersection of medical informatics and the delivery of health services that are enhanced through internet technologies (Eysenbach, 2001). Based on the above definition, the similarity with the one provided in the chapter is based on the reliance on internet technology in providing or enhancing health services delivery.
The World Health Organization (WHO) defines e-health as using technologies in the information and communication sector for health (WHO).
