* Mary had a serious heart problem; tachycardia. Her heart rate was very rapid, thus causing shortness of breath. This made her rely on oxygen machine and a respiratory mask to support her breathing. According to Theresa Brown, the respiratory mask was a major boost to her breathing as without it she could not have survived for long. Difficulty in breathing as a result of the rapid heart rate was the major physical challenge that the medical team prioritized on.
* Nursing Process Discipline Theory is a model that explains the prioritization by the medical team to the discussed physical problem experienced by Mary. This theory emphasizes on the need for nurses and medical team to provide quality treatment and care (both physically and mentally) to the patients to help them easily get back to their normal health conditions. In this case, Theresa Brown is seen taking care of the patient with an aim of improving her conditions by getting her heart rhythm to normal until her demise.
* Nursing adaptation model/theory describes the need for nurses to be knowledgeable with all the ideas and concepts in order to provide quality care. This theory supports the learning process of Theresa Brown. In page 30, Theresa Brown confesses of getting guided on the process of taking a patient off life support.
