Introduction
Veins and arteries are used to transport blood to and from the heart to other parts of the body. Deep Venous Thrombosis (DVT) is a condition that leads to the formation of clots in the vein limiting the efficient flow of blood. The Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI) is a condition caused by impaired veins leading to discomfort on the legs, skin changes, and other infections. The two illnesses are a challenge to the health of many people, especially the old above the age of sixty.

This paper provides a pathophysiology comparison of DVT and CVI and shows the differences that exist between DVT and arterial thrombosis. Also, it offers the diagnosis and treatment of DVT and CVI and mind maps to enhance understanding.

The chronic venous insufficiency occurs when the venous hypertension is experienced as a result of compromised valves. It is commonly encountered on the lower extremities with the key risk factors including pregnancy, prolonged standing, trauma, surgery, genes, and female gender. The causes of CVI are the conditions that lead to venous hypertension, which is usually through venous injuries or failure of venous valves (Eberhardt & Raffetto, 2014). The same risk factors experienced during CVI are associated with the emergence of varicose veins and venous thrombosis. The chronic venous insufficiency is characterized by lower extremity edema, changes in the skin color, and feeling uncomfortable. Chronic venous insufficiency causes an outward flow from the deep to the superficial blood vessels along the leg muscle tissue contractions.
