Healthcare providers are bound to encounter patients from diverse backgrounds, an aspect that indicates the need to acquire knowledge in practicing different faith expressions. This paper seeks to conduct a comparative analysis of two principles within the context of healthcare-Christianity and Buddhism. On the other hand, the article will address the manner in which health care providers understand patients from different backgrounds within the Christina and Buddhist perspective.
However, to ensure that medical institutions achieve success, it is important for health care providers to consider the aspect of accommodation to the faiths and needs of patients irrespective of their religiosity and cultures. Consequently, this denotes the fact that religion and spirituality are essential ingredients in enhancing the process of care within an institution of health. Care providers are, therefore, obligated to respect different views, concerns, beliefs, and needs of patients on their religious theories within the health care sector, an aspect that denotes the primary objective of this paper.
Health Care Providers and Faith Diversity
Considering that health care providers encounter patient's from diverse backgrounds, it is important for care providers to familiarize themselves with the fundamental elements of these religions and cultures. In as much as achieving this goal may prove challenging, it is important for care providers to conduct inquiries from the patients, their friends, and families on matters faith and some of the essential aspects that need to be integrated into the process to achieve positive outcomes (Regan, 2014). Health care facilities and practitioners, therefore, need to ensure that effective approaches are incorporated to ensure that care is provided efficiently in consideration of the patient’s diversity.
Buddhism& Christianity
Buddhism remains a religion that originated in the sixth century in India. The principles of this religion base its views on the faith and belief of Siddhartha Gautama regarded as Buddha. It is essential to note that the Buddhist consider living a simple life that revolves around the aspect of love, joy, and peace that comes from within an individual as was lived by their god. On the other hand, the teachings of the Buddhists are simplified with the aim of ensuring the followers of this religion commit to the right acts and ensuring that they mediate in developing an inner strength and peace that would guide them in doing no harm to an individual or others (Regan, 2014). In comparison to Christianity, it is important to consider that Christians believe in God who remains at the center of creating humanity and the universe, and who has the power to heal the sick. On the other hand, it is essential to consider that the existence of humanity begun from God when he created man. As compared to the Buddhist’s who believe in Siddhartha Gautama, Christians believe in God and his law and ensure that their actions are guided by this law, an aspect that differentiates them from pagans.
