Macronutrients are essential in the body due to their fundamental functions. These components include carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. The dietary allowances of these macronutrients vary due to various factors such as weight, pre-existing health conditions, and age.
Carbohydrates are energy-giving foods. As a result, they are of greater importance since tissues and cells in the human body require energy to work efficiently. During exercises, the body needs to be well-energized with glucose from carbohydrates to facilitate the contraction of muscles (Weisenberger, 2020). When the body is not active, it also needs calories to continue with vital processes, such as maintaining temperature and energy to digest food.
