Essay Instructions:

Welcome to week3. Your first paper due at the end of this week. For the Week 3 Capstone Assignment, you will submit a 3-4-page (Title page and reference page are NOT included in the total page count, and please do not exceed the page count) paper that will address the following:
Practice Problem ( this should be a level 1 heading)
State the practice problem in measurable terms How often, or how many times has your problem occurred?
State YOUR data that suggests a practice problem exists at your practice site, again, how many or how often is this problem occurring? If you do not have your specific data here - you will lose points.
Include a purpose/thesis statement. If there is not an identifiable purpose statement you will lose points-
Analysis of the Existing Evidence (Level 1 heading)
Synthesize (not list) the findings from a minimum of 5 evidence-based practice sources that support your practice problem. Look for solutions to your problem. Identify research, clinical guidelines, expert opinions, and other relevant information. You must include two-three research studies in your analysis. Using your own words synthesize the evidence that supports solutions to your identified practice problem. There should be no quotes or personal opinions included in this section. Look for evidence based solutions to your practice problem. You don't need to include how much it costs the US each year or how prevalent an issue is- you need solutions! A .com website is not a scholarly source!
Quality Improvement Process (Level 1 heading)
Describe the quality improvement process and the quality model FOCUS PDSA MODEL that will be used as a framework for your quality improvement plan. You will develop your specific quality improvement plan in the second part of your capstone. Include a description of a quality improvement tool(s) that you will use in your quality improvement plan. See your Spath, (2018) for examples. There is a difference between a quality model and a quality tool.
Explain why the specific process was selected and document your explanation with references. I need to see a quality model/process AND a quality tool described in this paragraph. If a description of a tool is missing you will lose points. Please review the rubric and make sure that you understand the difference :)
Conclusion ( level 1 heading)
There is NO new information in a conclusion
Imagine that, for about a year, your nursing unit has been involved in an intensive campaign to improve patient satisfaction scores with pain management. You are getting good data from your patients, as the length of stay on this inpatient geriatric medical nursing unit is only about 6 days. Your hospital does 100% survey to inpatients, and the response rate is about 25%, which is higher than it has been. This notwithstanding, the percent of “patient very satisfied” (top box), with a score of 5, has been in the low 70s. The national benchmark for medical surgical units like yours is about 85% very satisfied. Of all the units in your hospital, your unit is the lowest scoring on this HCAPHS survey. But as your unit is the only geriatric medical nursing unit in the hospital, you’d always thought it was the nature of the patient population.
You have been the day shift representative to the QI team, and the scores on your unit are posted monthly. Here are the numerous strategies that have been tried on your unit and the timeframes.
For this Discussion, examine the strategies and interventions tried in your unit and consider the following questions: a) Were the strategies effective in creating a sustainable change on your nursing unit, and b) To what extent can your nurse manager and CNO count on your unit eclipsing the national benchmark in the next quarter, the next year? That is, does this run chart have some predictive ability? Does the run chart support the nursing unit’s decision to celebrate? To what extent can the leadership be confident that the trend will continue?
This is the scenario that was used for the previous essay just thought this maybe helpful

Understanding the importance of measurement tools in benchmarking and improving one’s healthcare provider is essential for any nurse practitioner. It allows him to be able to understand how his organization performs concerning other organizations that are located within the same set of circumstances as well as how to improve its services further. Accordingly, this paper would focus on analyzing the ‘wait times’ of the author’s organizations and that of Texas, wherein he is located.
Practice Problem
One of the main problems that my organization experienced regarding its provision of care is its high wait times. Based on the recent data presented by the administration at a webinar, the average wait time for ER services is around 3 hours and 22 minutes. This includes data from the hospital’s peak and low hours, 30 days/month, and seven days a week. Accordingly, personal observation would show that long wait times also increase the patient’s frustrations and reduce satisfaction. Thus, the author believes that by reducing wait times, overall patient satisfaction could increase.
Analysis of Existing Evidence
Long wait times are found to be a common problem within hospital settings in the United States. However, despite this common occurrence, different providers have different wait times depending on the efficiency of the queueing system, operational protocols, and patient-to-staff ratio, among others (Aeenparast et al., 2019). In one article written by Dong et al. (2019), the authors noted that patients consider wait times when choosing their providers. This shows that wait times are essential, not only in improving the quality of care but also in maintaining the satisfaction and flow of patients that would seek treatment for the provider itself. Accordingly, a survey of queue times in Dallas, Tx, would show that the minimum and maximum wait times for patients are 2hrs 7m and 4hrs 33m, respectively (HospitalStats.org, 2019). Since the queue times within the author’s organization falls halfway between these periods, it could be seen that further improvements should be made in the queueing system and provision of care.
