The Post-Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) of Valley Ridge Hospital is facing the challenge of extended stay of patients in the PACU. A possible reason for this is that the staff members are not aware of when the patient needs to be transferred to the Inpatient Unit. This brings about numerous fears from the moment that the nurse records the patient to the moment that the unit is empty and ready to receive another patient. The scope of this research is the time ready to the time the patient is transferred from the PACU as this time has demonstrated a lot of inefficiencies that can be improved on.
