Individuals with disabilities are perceived as people with less intelligent and have limited potential to achieve much in life. These are some of the concerns expressed by those working with children with disabilities. In an article by Riesen, T., Schultz, J., Morgan, R., & Kupferman, S. (2014), titled School-to-work barriers as identified by special educators, vocational rehabilitation counselors, and community rehabilitation professionals, the authors, believe that the transition process from school to work is a unique especially for individuals with disabilities. They are engaged in activities that will help set their career paths by exploring several occupations (Riesen et al., 2014).
The article presents some of the challenges affecting meaningful transition among those with learning disabilities. The author highlights a study examining school to work barriers (Riesen et al., 2014).
