Puberty
The physical changes of a child when he/she matures to be an adult to become sexually reproductive have been subject to intense debate. The average age of puberty has been decreasing overtime and this is referred to as secular trends. This early puberty for children has been due to environmental and lifestyle impacts in the society. These include weight gain brought about by poor feeding habits; and chemicals such as DDE, Bisphenol A, and PCB’s. Hormones are also blamed for this as some promote sexual growth and development. The media has also been blamed for these impacts as they display illicit and sexual content to the child making the child bombarded with sexual messages which in turn impact the brain and body to develop sexually.
