Assessment Description
Arizona offers unique opportunities for direct democracy based on initiative power. In 2012 the Arizona voters, for example, rejected the Proposition 204 initiative that sought to convert a temporary sales tax that funded education into a permanent tax.
In a 500-750-word “Letter to the Editor,” propose an initiative for an educational issue that you feel needs to be addressed. Include a plan about how this issue could become an initiative under Arizona law.
Your letter should be written to persuade others to agree with your position. Support your position with examples from case law, the U.S. Constitution, or other readings.
While APA format is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and in-text citations and references should be presented using APA documentation guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.
This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

Dear Sir/Madam
RE: PROPOSAL FOR ADEQUATE FUNDING OF ARIZONA STATE’S EDUCATION AND ITS RELATED ACTIVITIES
I hope this letter finds you well. I am XX, a resident of Arizona State and a parent to a student who studies at one of the Arizona State institutions. Interestingly, I discovered that the issue of underfunding is a prevalent one, and most of the affected individuals either directly or indirectly shared the same thoughts. According to a poll and research carried out by Expect More Arizona, 28 percent of around 600 people said that education funding was one of the top issues in Arizona (Khmara, 2021). Further, most of those who participated in the opinion poll acknowledged that there was a lack of sufficient funding for education activities like student support services, teacher salaries, low-performing schools support, and improving the quality of learning (Khmara, 2021). Lack of sufficient funding affects the teachers' delivery and the productivity of the whole learning system. Consequently, I propose this issue be made an initiative under Arizona Law.
I propose that the issue of inadequate funding be made an initiative and then law under Arizona Law. I appreciate that Arizona has the utmost respect and value for democracy based on initiative power, which was apparent in the rejection of the Proposition 204 initiative in 2012 (Echavarri, 2012). Notably, the Arizona Law allows for a proposal of amendment, appeal, or creation of law by the citizens ("Welcome to Gila County," n.d.). Consequently, my plan to have the initiative...
