Philosophy of Special Education
The philosophy of education is a statement or set of statements from an individual or group identifying and clarifying the beliefs, values, and understandings concerning education. It is, therefore, a critical way of looking at knowledge and opinions relating to education. It contributes greatly to what subjects are taught and how information to be taught is delivered to people with special needs. The philosopher of education needs to demonstrate the ability to conceptualize, well articulate the aims of special education, including interventions required, argumentative rigor, and well-thought consideration of stakeholders' interests in special education. Education also helps students identify and develop their talents through learning opportunities and specialized programs. Although children develop social and communication skills early before school, additional training helps develop and sharpen these skills. Parents and the community are helpful in this process, but teachers have the greatest responsibility.
Personal vision
To meet the educational needs of students for special education, a proper vision will have to be developed. My vision will be to ensure applicable standards are adhered to and, where necessary suggest improvements. Consideration should be made when developing tests and assessments. Approaches used while developing a test should ensure that such tests are appropriate for all students, those with special needs included. In instances where such tests are field based and require some form of physical activity, an inclusive mechanism should be put in place while reviewing the test results of special education students (Thurlow et al., 2013). As an educationist, I will strive to ensure that regardless of their special needs, my students will learn and be inspired to be positive and constr...
