Understanding the types, processes, and importance of standardized testing is essential for every student. It allows him to have a better grasp of the course's objectives and how to use each of these to his own advantage. Accordingly, one thing that I learned from Chapter Five was the concept of Standardized Testing in language. Basically, there are several types of testing methods, each focusing on specific sets of competencies. Some of these include; (1) Graduate Record Exam, (2) Test of English as a Foreign Language, and (3) Scholastic Aptitude Testing, among others. Nonetheless, what is common to all of these testing is to determine the student's needs and proficiency when it comes to a specific set of predetermined standards or to assess the competency level of the whole population.
