Choose one of the following guidance strategies to elaborate on: developmental discipline, teacher effectiveness training, collaborative problem solving, positive reinforcement, natural and logical consequences, time-out, or time-away. You may utilize the following recommended resources to help you better understand the guidance strategies; however, please continue to search for additional insight regarding these strategies.

Guidance Strategies
I chose positive reinforcement as a guidance strategy, and I uncovered some interesting and surprising information about it. I learned that the key goal in employing positive reinforcement in education is to incentivize students to repeat certain desired behaviors (Craig, 2021). I also learned that it is vital for positive reinforcement to correspond with the age of the child. The effectiveness of positive reinforcement in changing students’ behavior underpins its significance and usage in education. I found it surprising that many educators find positive reinforcement manipulative because it prompts children to do things for extrinsic reasons instead of intrinsic reasons (Kaiser & Rasminsk, 2017). Nevertheless, Kaiser and Rasminsk (2017) emphasize that for positive reinforcement to be effective, the focus should be put on the behavior and process and not the product or the person.
