Dependent and Independent Variables
Independent variables are those that cause a change in other variables. Its existence does not rely on other variables. However, its variation affects other variables. The variables altered by independent variables are known as the dependent variables. An example is the relationship between the amount of sunlight and the amount of food produced by plants. The amount of sunlight is the independent variable, while the amount of food produced is the dependent variable as its quantity depends on the amount of sunlight available.
The independent variables are the Professional Learning Communities, defined as their changes having the ability to influence New Jersey education process changes. The dependent variables in the study are the context, process, quality teaching, family involvement, equality, and content of education. The PLCs automatically led to changes in the context, process, quality teaching, family involvement, content, and equality in schools. Johnson (2011) aimed to understand how the PLCs in New Jersey impacted the leadership, resources, communities, and learning communities. The PLCs are the independent variables as their introduction, or elimination can alter the learning process in New Jersey. The context, process, and content of education are the dependent variable as PLCs cause changes in these variables.
The paper focuses on cyberbullying in schools and how that affects students' dignity. One of the research questions in the study is whether or not a teacher's experience affects their view of cyberbullying (Riddell, 2018).
