High-quality teaching requires educators to be able to articulate their process for developing lessons and identifying selected instructional activities. As teachers reflect on their teaching practices they become better at identifying and articulating their process for selecting instructional activities and communicating how they affected student learning.
For this assignment, create two data tracking charts using technology based on the data you collected on the targeted teaching activity implemented with your identified student.
One of the charts should be in a student-friendly format to be used with the student to discuss his or her progress. The other chart should be in a format that could be shared with colleagues for collaboration on identifying student needs.
In addition to your two charts, compose a 750-1,000 word reflective paper describing your targeted teaching activity and the process you underwent to develop it.
Your reflection should include:
How and what data/information was used to identify the selected student.
How and what data/information was used to select the identified learning objective.
How and what data/information was used to develop the targeted learning activity.
How data relevant to the targeted teaching plan was collected, organized, and analyzed.
An explanation for data as a primary resource when developing instruction.

Describe how to share the plan with families and stakeholders to promote collaboration and partnerships.

This is usually informed by the student’s performance in different areas, which include the academic, social, and cognitive spheres. Instructors must be able to evaluate the student's abilities and develop specific approaches that can enhance their performance in the areas in which they are deemed weak. Targeted instruction heavily centers on period or continual assessment, including the observation of the student's initial learning levels. The instructor or educator can measure the student's progress and refine aspects of the instruction to ensure that the learning is personalized.
In order to identify a student with specific needs, there are different types of data or information that can be used. First, the teachers must seek to understand the social context of the student. This is an important determinant of the student’s abilities and how they are assisted effectively to improve. Other information that is vital in identifying the student includes performance progress within a particular period and behavioral aspects. Performance is a measure of their learning outcomes and understanding, highlighting their areas of strengths and weakness. On the other hand, behavioral aspects reveal the student’s concentration in class and how they cope with different learning methods.
In identifying learning objectives for the student, I will utilize different sets of information. The goal is to set objectives that align with the student’s strengths and ensure that they can successfully go through the learning process. In order to create learning objectives, I will seek to gain information about the student’s language abilities, writing abilities, mathematical abilities, and science abilities. These are important aspects that will inform the level of the students and the intended learning goals for each lesson (Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, n.d.). Moreover, it is important to understand cognitive abilities, which can be measured through vocabulary, the ability to define, explain, and interpret information. With this information and data, it would be easier to identify a learning objective that aligns with the particular needs of the student.
