Recent studies submits that there are 5.1 billion unique mobile users and more than 4.3 billion internet users worldwide (Kemp, 2019). This evidence suggests that over a half of the world’s population is connected to the internet. Therefore, the influence of the internet on various sectors is substantial; education is no exception. Studies suggest that the internet permeates all aspects of education today; from learner instruction to institution administrative functions (Bahjam, Kuhail & Hammad, 2021). The recent COVID-19 pandemic has made the internet a more pivotal vehicle for delivering coursework to learners at all education levels.
Ease of Access
Although the disadvantages that the internet has on education has recently been the center of debate, the internet has multiple advantages. First, the internet overcomes the space and time limitations posed by conventional (“traditional”) education. Learners who face time and geographic barriers have access to learning resources suitable to their learning needs. Additionally, learners enjoy the flexibility and speed of access that comes with internet-based resources (Feng, Wong, Wong & Hossain, 2019). For instance, one does not need to visit the library to access the collection. By conducting a search on a library’s database remotely, information resources are only a click away.
