Introduction
Can addicts drop harmful habits that lead to a drug-free life? People might differ from each other regarding this question because of their beliefs and understanding of addiction. People should not consider addiction to be a habit but an insidious disease that takes control of people so fast and takes them to a lifestyle that they find difficult to drop. There are different types of addictions ranging from eating, sex, viewing pornography, playing video games, exercising, drug addiction, alcohol addiction to substance abuse. Moving past these addictions is not an easy task because many recovering addicts are bound to relapse back to their addictive behaviors. Decision m-making at this point demands that the addict should view themselves in a different life whereby they do not depend on substances, alcohol, drugs, or social media. Therefore they will be able to pose questions such as why are we doing this? Is it worth it? With such consideration, addicts will seek to understand moderation. The motivation to learn is derived from the fact that the addict has already considered the worth of moving past addiction (Costanza et al., 2017). Exploring the recovery phase will be significant for the addict because it will motivate them to examine the want to make a difference in their lives.
