Teaming is the process whereby individuals come together when unexpected things that they have never experienced before emerge from the unusual context and thus the need to work towards a solution. That said, teaming is coordination and collaboration amongst individuals that surpass diverse boundaries, including expertise, time zones, or distance, to get something important done without involvement in stable team dynamics or membership. Teaming is different from what is happens in a sports team since it does not involve stable, united, and interdependent individuals working towards a shared objective. Instead, teaming entails engaging different people constantly to attain an end goal for the first or the only time without the need for practicing as a unit, particularly due to a lack of stable groups (Edmondson, 2017, n.p.). For example, teaming happens within military settings where soldiers work in shifts to achieve their unit’s mission.
