There are nine classes of hazards. The first class is explosives which refer to highly reactive substances that contain enormous amounts of potential energy. Explosives can go off, releasing heat, pressure, or other dangerous substances. Class two is flammable gases. These are gases that can produce fire when mixed with an oxidant and some source of ignition. Class 3 represents flammable liquids. Flammable liquids are any liquids capable of producing fire if mixed with an oxidant and some ignition source. Class 4 is flammable solids that bear the same explanation as flammable liquids, but the items involved are solid. Class 5 represents organic peroxides which refer to chemicals with peroxide as their functional group (Uretsky 2020).
