Bernays cannot be said to be a public relations genius but someone who spun the truth with a pseudo-event. Bernays advanced a program that had little value and importance to the people to a larger extent. The impact of his event, marching up against smoking women to promote a tobacco company, cannot be celebrated or said to be persuasive (Murphree, 2015). Therefore, Bernays's work can be considered spinning the truth with a pseudo-event.
Bernays's work was unethical since the events and actions did not have any value to society. There are better ways to promote a company than using women to smoke by marching up the street just to end the discriminatory taboo for cigarettes and women (Kelleher, 2021).
