The Purpose of This Study
The primary purpose of this study is to show how patient liaison facilitates effective communication between patients and their healthcare providers. In particular, a patient liaison holds significant responsibilities in the healthcare sector, including representing sick people to doctors, handling communication between care providers and patients, discussing the quality of medical services with patients, and explaining how medical insurance works to patients. In that light, this study will focus on the importance of patient liaison and highlight their duties and responsibilities in the healthcare industry. Although physicians can offer quality medical services without patient advocates, it becomes extremely difficult for them to interact with sick individuals from different cultures, races, religions, or ethnicities. That is why patient liaisons are needed as intermediaries to ensure that healthcare providers can connect with their patients so that they can build and maintain trusting relationships. This research will be crucial in understanding the roles of patient liaisons by elaborating how they bridge the gap between doctors and sick individuals. Besides, healthcare providers cannot provide quality services to their patients if they do not understand their health needs in the first place. Notably, this study emphasizes the importance of patient liaisons in the medical sector.
Why The Study is Needed
The study is significantly needed to show how patient liaisons bridge the gap between patients and their healthcare providers. Notably, navigating the healthcare system can be hectic and challenging for care providers and patients due to its high complexity. In some cases, the patients might not understand how medical insurance works to cater to their hospital bills. They might as well have cultural norms and values that create communication barriers, making it extremely hard to interact with their physicians. On the contrary, healthcare providers might find it difficult to capture their patients’ lifestyles or medical histories if records are unavailable. These occurrences might hinder effective treatment and care since they create a gap between doctors and sick individuals. With the presence of a patient liaison, it becomes easy for healthcare providers to understand their patients' health needs. The patient advocate does everything to ensure that there is a proper interaction between physicians and their patients, which leads to the provision of quality medical services. Moreover, the professional explains the medical procedures to be undertaken to the patient’s family, relieving them from anxiety (Mottaghi et al., 2022). That is why this study is needed to reveal the significance of patient liaisons in the medical sector by showing how these professionals hold vital roles in improving the doctor-patient relationship.
