7A Planning- Create a list of at least 3 specific planned situations in which you will implement your new behaviors over a time span of 2 weeks, from Week 6 and Week 7. Note: You should also implement your new behaviors in any unplanned situations when you have the opportunity to do so.
7A1- First Planned Conversation
I will make efforts to adapt and connect with my audience by maintaining eye contact. It is a fundamental communication skill and technique in that regard.
7A2- Second Planned Conversation
I will actively volunteer to speak and echo my sentiments with family members and friends in efforts of strengthening my communication skills.
7A3- Third Planned Conversation
I will make efforts to exhibit confidence in my interactions particularly by making advance preparations.
7B Evaluation of Planned Conversations- Evaluate your performance each time you attempt your new behavior in new planned situations. Write a dated narrative journal evaluation that describes in detail what occurred upon implementation of your new communication behaviors in planned circumstances. Address the 3 or more planned opportunities as you described them in 7A. Be sure to address the following questions in your evaluation for each conversation:
I am cognizant to the fact that it is vital for a speaker to create an understanding with their audience and particularly find a level ground to connect with the people in the group. It is in this regard that I will purpose to ensure the maintenance of eye contact with my audience and make effort to adapt to their unique needs and preferences. Additionally, I will continuously make effort to strengthen and sharpen my communication skills by practicing the art of public speaking not only with close family members but also by myself in front of a mirror. Last but not least, I will also implement my communication behavior through the exhibition of high confidence levels. I will build my confidence by ensuring adequate preparation on all aspects I am to engage the audience on.
7B1- What seemed to work for you?
I can firmly acknowledge that the regular practices particularly in front of a mirror helped significantly to enhance and build my self-confidence and control. The initiative not only assisted me understand my body language but also facial gestures.
7B2- What did not seem to work?
While some of the family members and friends offered constructive criticism in the opinionated conversations I held with them, there were others who were utterly unsupportive and were only out to discourage me. As such, the practices in front of other people didn’t meet the objectives I had planned.
7B3- In what situations were you most successful?
