On 6th January 2021, Parler’s social media website was suspended from the Internet by its service provider after a riot that occurred in the United States of America’s (USA) Capitol. Amazon.com Inc. pulled Parler’s website down after users supported and planned a riot using the website. Amazon Web Services asserted that Parler did not follow the regulations to remove content that can promote violence even after receiving numerous warnings from the Internet service provider (Turton, 2021). Amazon.com said that Parler lacked effective control of users’ content.
Although Parler has now resumed its services, it is not known which service provider is hosting its website. Some of the high-profile figures that use Parler’s services are Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson, hosts at Fox News. Many of the conservative media and Republican politicians using Parler migrated from Twitter Inc. for its inability to eradicate misinformation. Some...
