Wits Waters Coffee House is a full-time operational restaurant that is located along Hurlington Street. The restaurant is located on a very busy street that has so many residents. Training is the process of making people acquire certain skills so that they can be able to perform their job in a better way. As a business consultant of Wits Waters Coffee House, I recommend the following elements of training and development that are geared towards improving the performance of the restaurant.
1 Ensuring that there is complete orientation and making sure staff are aware of Wits Waters Coffee House Policies and Procedures.
Having stayed at Wits Waters Coffee House for a period, I have realized that some of the members of the staff do not know the necessary procedure even though they have worked in the organization for a long period. The failure of the members of the staff implies that there is lack of regular training at the restaurant. Other staff asks the customer to pay before they have eaten which I consider disrespectful.
Besides, I have observed that there are customers who come with food from outside and they are allowed to get in with contrary to the policies of the restaurant. I will hold a meeting with the staff and remind them of the policies about our restaurant. In will also issue a fine for any of the staff who will be found violating the policies.
2 Welcoming and Greeting Guests at Wits Waters Coffee House
The members of staff are not well versed on the techniques of greeting guests at our restaurant. A guest should not just come and sit while one of the staff is looking at them. I will train my members and inform them that immediately a guest arrives, there should be a member of the staff to approach them and inquire how they are doing. By inquiring how they are doing, that would imply that we are always focused on making sure that besides the services that we provide, each of the guests feels relaxed.
