The article covers the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and how companies are making these goals a part of their objectives (UN, 2020). Based on the article, it is clear that the business sector is not doing enough to meet the global SDGs. A UN survey shows that only 46% of businesses are integrating the SDGs in their objectives (UN, 2020). Whilst most study participants indicated that they believe their companies are moving fast enough to meet the SDGs, incremental change is not enough. Most of these companies only move in line with their specific industries. However, for the desired effect to be achieved with the SDGs, companies from all sectors need to unite. Aside from this, companies need to do more than formulate sustainable development policies. They need to implement the guidelines to ensure global sustainable development (UN, 2020). Failure by world companies, however, has not dampened sustainability efforts. According to the article, there is still hope for the future. After the pandemic, a resurge of the world economy should help improve sustainability efforts. Also, given that the youth are showing interest in sustainable development, all hope is not lost (UN, 2020).
